• For most people, a pencil drawing is just a stick figure or a collection of scribbles on a page, but this talented group of artists put those to shame. These drawings appear as though they’ve been drawn on regular lined notebook paper, but there’s a twist. At first glance, you’d think they were 3D, but on closer inspection, it’s actually a clever optical illusion. Artists come together on the “Nas Linhas do Caderno” Facebook page and share their works. One of the most prolific 3D artists on the page is a 15-year-old named João A. Carvalho, who also goes by the name “J Desenhos”. 

Comparing something to a grain of sand is usually supposed to mean that it’s small or insignificant, but Dr. Gary Greenberg’s microscopic photography aims to turn this stereotype on its head. His photographs of miniscule grains of sands magnified up to 300 times reveal that each grain of sand can be beautiful and unique. 

The folks over at Fysikshow decided to take the Rubens’ tube to another level by building a two-dimensional ‘Pyro Board’ with 2500 holes. “Sound waves are transmitted through a flammable gas creating alternating high and low pressure zones. This creates the flame pattern.” (via)

Nevertheless, my greatest passion are photographic expeditions to the highest European mountains – the Alps. During these wild trips I sleep in a tent that I always set in places with outstanding scenery, often remote and difficult to reach, where I can take pictures of sunrises and sunsets. I tend to avoid crowded places and popular routes. I’m not afraid to take risk by going with a camera on climbing routes like via ferrata and spending nights in a tent on a glacier at an altitude of 4,000 m above sea level, even during the cold weather and strong winds.

This is an ongoing personal project. Traveling is one of my biggest passions, and also if I’m not a very skilled photographer, I always take lots of photos wherever I go.

So I decided to take some photos of my last trips and add my personal touch on them with another of my biggest passions: character design.

For this project I used just Procreate app on my iPad mini.

Do you remember when you saw snow for the first time? Unfortunately, I don't. But it's not very hard to imagine how excited I was, because each year's first snow brings me great joy! The same is often the case for animals, too.

The aurora borealis follows an 11 year cycle where aurora activity is at its maximum on the 11th year. I shot this video during the 11th year of the cycle. The aurora is a very dynamic thing, and I feel that still images just don’t do it justice. I decided I wanted to shoot the aurora using timelapse photography to show people how the aurora dances in the sky.

I chose Greenland as my main location for this video because of its remoteness and how far north it is geographically, and it sits directly under the aurora belt. Greenland usually has fairly clear skies, which makes the odds of seeing the aurora much better. The place was very challenging logistically as travel within Greenland is either by plane, helicopter, dogsled, or snowmobile.  I used two local guides to assist me and we traveled across the landscape mostly on dogsled.

Moab Monkeys is a group that specializes in slacklining, highlining, BASE jumping and filmmaking. They have have performed their stunts in places like Rio and the Austrian Alps. However it’s no coincidence that their hometown is Moab – a town in Southern Utah famous for its Mars-like landscape with canyons, cliffs and arches.Source
